NEW MEMBER CLUBS
After many months of meetings & discussions with member clubs & those wishing to apply to enter the NGFNL from MGFNL a decision has finally been made.
At a meeting held on Wednesday 7th August 2024, at the Rosedale FNC, the member clubs voted whether to accept new clubs into the NGFNL in 2025.
The vote required a 75% majority vote, which was not achieved.
Therefore, no new clubs will be accepted into the NGFNL in 2025.
At a meeting held on Wednesday 17th of July, with news just breaking of Gippsland Leagues intent to introduce a 2nd division, all 11 clubs, have strongly indicated that no club would seek to enter this newly created division & remain the the NGFNL.
This meeting was called & held to discuss the proposals’ by Newborough Football Netball Club, Yinnar Football Netball Club & Morwell East Football Netball Club’s intent, to apply to enter the NGFNL in 2025 but with the news released by GLFNL to the NGFNL on Tuesday afternoon, it also became a topic for discussion.
The NGFNL remains one of the strongest Leagues in Gippsland, with full compliments of all teams, Seniors, Reserves, Thirds, A Grade, B Grade, C Grade, D Grade, 17 & under, 15 & under netball
The NGFNL also has a solid partnership with Sale Umpires Assassination, where our clubs are also supported by a full complement of umpires every week.
The NGFNL Board of Directors are united in continuing to deliver a competition to its member clubs, of an extremely high standard for the remainder of the year & into the future.
The NGFNL are also committed to pursuing & strengthening relationships with Junior Football Leagues in Gippsland & creating pathways to Senior Football competition in the future.

The 2024 NGFNL AGL Pride Round was celebrated in the sunshine at Heyfield FNC on Saturday 22nd June. The Pride cup winners on the day were the Heyfield Football Netball Club, taking out all three football games and five of the six netball games, with Cowwar having one win for the day with their D Grade netball team.
The medals were given out after each game to the best players, finishing with the senior football medal going to Heyfield Captain Robbie McMillan and A Grade Netball going to Heyfield’s Millie Risely. Heyfield took eight of the nine medals on offer with Cowarr taking the medal for the D Grade.
Both club’s netballers and footballers looked great on the day with their Pride designed netball dresses and football jumpers. The crowd was entertained prior to the start of the Senior football game by Maddie Veneman from the Cowwar FNC who sang the national anthem.
Many thanks go to our major sponsor AGL Loy Yang who arrived with a number of their team members, who set up a stall with hats, bottles, inclusion pins and specifically designed Pride cookies. The most popular was the face painter who was non stop busy all day. “What a great atmosphere and feeling of inclusion” said an AGL representative who couldn’t believe all the teams on the day were involved including the junior teams. Many thanks to Brendan Jilbert, Head of Station Production at AGL Loy Yang, who spoke about the importance of inclusion in our communities and clubs. Thanks also to Chad Leslie and Monque DeCarli from AGL Loy Yang who presented medals throughout the day.
The NGFNL is proud to host the AGL Loy Yang Pride cup each year and understand how important diversity and inclusion is to our clubs. Everyone should feel welcome at our football and netball clubs no matter what gender, religion, sexual preference, or ethnicity they are. The NGFNL thank again our Major Sponsor AGL Loy Yangf for their generosity and commitment to the NGFNL, without them we could not run our celebration games including Pride Cup, Indigenous Round and Mental Health Round.
