Record North Gippy Crowds

22nd August 2022

Finals football and netball returned to the AGL Loy Yang North Gippsland Football Netball League over the weekend, with record crowds turning out to enjoy finals action.

Week 1 of the North Gippy Finals Series saw clubs compete in the Qualifying finals at Sale City on Saturday and Elimination Finals at Churchill on Sunday.

Gate takings from the weekend were the highest Week 1 finals gates in North Gippsland history, with thousands of people enjoying the first taste of finals football and netball since 2019.

NGFNL President David Kyle said, “It is exciting to see so many people back out and enjoying the finals atmosphere again. After two challenging years with little or no local sport, having nearly every North Gippy club represented in finals gives the whole league community a taste of finals.”

Mr Kyle thanked the Sale City and Churchill clubs for presenting first-class venues for the Qualifying and Elimination Finals. “We have had a lot of rain over the past few weeks, and the facilities over the weekend were brilliant”.

The AGL Loy Yang North Gippsland Finals Series continues this weekend, with 2nd Semi-Finals being played at Rosedale on Saturday, then 1st Semi Finals on Sunday at Glengarry.
